About Together Co

Everybody should have somebody.  We match people with people to create friendships that make life better. We’ve been doing so for over 25 years.  In that time, we’ve seen loneliness eased and lives changed – all through the simple power of human connection.

Together Co Befriending matches people with people to create friendships that make life better.  For over 25 years we have been fighting loneliness and social isolation across our city by making supportive and reliable friendships.  Our volunteer befrienders connect with people through in-person meetings, phone calls, or group activities.

We help people living in Brighton and Hove experiencing chronic loneliness and are aged over 50 or have a physical or sensory disability or have caring responsibilities.

Service Eligibility

Together Co Befriending offers friendship to residents of Brighton & Hove who are experiencing loneliness and social isolation and are:

  • over the age of 50 with limited to no social connections
  • or over the age of 18 with health conditions causing isolation
  • or are a carer to these groups.

Referrals can be made by calling 01273 775888 or using the online form on our website as listed below.

Information for Volunteers

We’re looking for volunteers to offer regular companionship to someone living locally.  Befriending involves spending time together in ways that suit you both – visiting someone at home, meeting for coffee, going to the shops, or enjoying a shared activity. Each match is unique and built around conversation and connection.

We are also seeking telephone befrienders.

You don’t need experience – training and support are provided. We’re looking for people who are:

  • Friendly, warm and approachable
  • Good listeners who enjoy conversation
  • Reliable and honest
  • Respectful, non‑judgemental and able to keep information confidential

Befriending is a flexible, rewarding role that fits around everyday life and makes a real difference.

Please see our website for the various opportunities currently available.
