Volunteer Glasgow
Young Person's Befriending Service
About Volunteer Glasgow
YPBS provides a high quality service to young people aged 8-18 who are coping with difficult circumstances in their lives. Whether this is because of unusual pressures in the family, at school or some other factor, the Service is designed to offer the young person a supportive relationship with an adult who holds them in positive regard and an opportunity for time out having fun. Our processes are designed to help us to get to know a young person so that we can match them with the volunteer befriender who will give them the best befriending experience. Once a young person is matched the Service will monitor and support the relationship to ensure quality for both the young person and the befriender.

Service Eligibility
Any young person aged 8-18 living in Glasgow city who would benefit from the consistent support of a positive adult can be referred. Our Assessment process gives the service time to get to know the young person and their circumstances and gives the young person time and the necessary information about what befriending would be like so that they can decide if they want to engage with us. Then together we can identify and design the right befriending service for that young person.
