Powys Association of Voluntary Organisations – #BefriendingIs congratulations to our first Befriender wedding!
27th September 2021
PAVO is the County Voluntary Council for Powys supporting the third sector in Powys. It provides essential services to support third sector organisations and to improve people’s lives. They are proud to have been working to support Powys for nearly 25 years. Powys Befriending Service helps improve the independence of people over 50 by helping maintain social networks and remain in their own homes for as long as they are able.
Maggie and Edward met through one of Powys Befriending Service lunch clubs – both clients, living alone and feeling isolated. They became good friends over a period of time and although they met up outside Befriending activities, they still enjoyed joining us for lunches, afternoon teas and days out.
During Covid they created their own support bubble and as the lockdown eased, decided to make it permanent!
Congratulations to Maggie and Edward on their recent marriage in the spring sunshine at Meifod Church. The happy couple met through Powys Befrienders Lunch Club in North Powys – our first Befriender wedding with several clients and volunteers present at the church to cheer them on!
We all wish them health and happiness in their new life together!
