St Barnabas Community Companions – Liam
25th September 2019
Liam decided to become a volunteer with St Barnabas because he wanted to make a difference out in the community. He says “I can’t think of anything more rewarding than being a Community Companion. For a lot of people, I’m sure it can be a very lonely place and to see them chat, smile and laugh can, for a while, put them in a better place.”
Liam has been visiting Bob since February and Bob always looks forward to his visits as it means he’s able to get out and about. Bob says “it’s wonderful to have Liam come along, we click, and we clicked right from the start”. Liam enjoys visiting Bob just as much, “When I go out on a Wednesday, I just see it as going for a coffee with a mate. I think that’s how we see each other”. Every week they go for a coffee in their usual spot which is a favourite of Bob’s.
