Befriending Networks 2026 Roadshow kicks off in Cardiff

We celebrated a return to beautiful, sunny weather in Cardiff with our first 2026, in-person networking event for befriending services!

Staff from 12 organisations (including 2 who made the trip across the Bridge from Bristol) spent the day discussing how to recruit and retain volunteer befrienders, handle referrals to their services and support the wellbeing of everyone in their teams. Even with the difficult situation charities in general, and especially Befriending services, face in Wales right now, everyone was really engaged and enthusiastic!

We were joined in co-hosting the event by Gig Buddies Cymru, who provide opportunities for people with learning disabilities to go to gigs and other events so they are not excluded from a rich and exciting social life. The team, including one of their volunteers and service users, gave a really dynamic and energetic account of their work, and really got stuck into helping drive the conversations amongst everyone who attended.

Our roadshow will also head to London, Edinburgh, Manchester, Belfast, and Glasgow, as well as online. We can’t wait to see you there!
