Purpose of this event

This informal networking session is aimed at supporting befriending projects working in Hospices or End of Life Projects.

Our co-host from Florence Nightingale Hospice Charity will share experiences on how social and emotional support fits in the wider picture of health and well-being for hospices and will share some of their tips for organisations who are supporting end of life care.

This free online event is open to members & non-members and is designed to help those of you who work in the sector.

If you are living with a long-term or life-limiting illness – either yourself or that of a loved one – or are bereaved or elderly and experiencing loneliness, you might find being matched with one our befriending volunteers helpful.  Our volunteer befrienders are fully trained to provide companionship to people in their local community.  We will work with you to match you to a befriender that works best for you.  The befriender will visit (usually weekly) for a cup of tea and a chat, a listening ear to any worries or concerns you have, or to help you to do the things you love and stay connected to your community.  Alternatively, you can join one of our social groups at a local community hub run by volunteer befrienders.. Find out more about them in our directory.
