Volunteers’ Week

2nd – 8th June

Volunteers’ Week is an annual UK-wide campaign held from the first Monday in June to celebrate and recognise the contributions of volunteers.

For Volunteers’ Week, we’ve got some exciting things in store including:

  • Being a Befriender events for your volunteers
  • A guide to writing example case studies to enhance your volunteer training
  • An e-learning mini course to support volunteers to have their first befriending conversation
  • Blogs to give you handy hints for recruiting and training volunteers
  • A quick guide to accessing the Befriender Training Toolkit
  • ….and more!

The Big Lunch

7th – 8th June

The Big Lunch is the UK’s annual get-together for neighbours and communities, with millions of people coming together for a few hours of friendship, food and fun. It’s a great way to get to know each other better, have a good time and celebrate where you live. 

Loneliness Awareness Week

9th – 15th June

Loneliness Awareness Week is all about creating supportive communities by having open, honest conversations about loneliness. This year’s theme is ‘Meeting Loneliness Together’, which explores reducing the stigma around this natural human emotion.

Carers Week

9th – 15th June

Carers Week is an annual campaign to raise awareness of caring, highlight the challenges unpaid carers face and recognise the contribution they make to families and communities throughout the UK. This year the theme is ‘Caring About Equality’ highlighting the inequalities faced by unpaid carers, including a greater risk of poverty, social isolation, poor mental and physical health.

Refugee Week

16th – 22nd June

Refugee Week is the world’s largest arts & culture festival celebrating the contributions, creativity and resilience of refugees and people seeking sanctuary. The theme for 2025 is ‘Community as a Superpower’.
