Absolutely brilliant workshop. It was facilitated wonderfully and the whole thing felt so smooth. The trainer is clearly a professional, and her warmth and personable nature encouraged all attendees to open up and share. The practical strategies and tips when either a service user passes, or a volunteer is supporting a bereaved service user was the most helpful part, and I will be bringing those ideas into our service. – Participant 2024.

Purpose of Course

This training was designed in 2020 after members at Befriending Networks requested support. The course facilitator will train attendees while also demonstrating facilitation from the training toolkit, a resource supplied to any attendee. This course is designed to support both staff and volunteers in supporting others through loss: loss of life, loss of independence, and loss of mobility. Though these circumstances may be more common within older services, this course is designed to cater to all ages and projects.

Resources and Additional Support

This course provides all participants with access to our Bereavement in Befriending Delegate Pack, which includes our 81-page Training Toolkit filled with information and activities to help you design support or training on Bereavement within your befriending service. Due to the vast size of resources provided, a free follow-up session will be offered to attendees to allow for questions or further discussion. This is an optional event of one-hour maximum.

Up to 48 hours before the course begins: your order will be refunded, subject to a £15 administration fee. Alternatively, you can defer your order to the next occurrence of the same course.
Within 48 hours of the course beginning, including non-attendance: your order is non-refundable and cannot be deferred.

Please note that all courses operate with a minimum number of delegates. If this number is not obtained, we reserve the right to cancel or reschedule the event date. Your event facilitator will contact you to discuss options. In such cases where we cannot fulfil your order, a full refund will be given.
