Good Practice: Bereavement in Befriending

Absolutely brilliant workshop. It was facilitated wonderfully and the whole thing felt so smooth. The trainer is clearly a professional, and her warmth and personable nature encouraged all attendees to open up and share. The practical strategies and tips when either a service user passes, or a volunteer is supporting a bereaved service user was the most helpful part, and I will be bringing those ideas into our service. – Previous Participant.

Purpose of Course

Developed in response to requests from Befriending Networks members, this training equips attendees with practical skills and knowledge while modelling facilitation using the training toolkit provided to all participants. It supports staff and volunteers in helping others through loss (including bereavement, loss of independence, and loss of mobility) and is suitable for all ages and services, not just older people’s projects.
