Supporting and Supervising Your Team

Starts Wednesday 24th June 2026
Multi-Day Event

£160.00

  • E-learning and Zoom

Purpose of the course

This course builds your knowledge and confidence to effectively support volunteers, staff, and service users, while strengthening your organisation’s practice. Designed for those working in community settings, the course helps you develop the skills to manage your project and lead your team with clarity and care.

To support flexible learning and make the best use of staff time, the course follows a blended model. Participants can complete self-paced learning modules via an online platform, exploring good practice in support, supervision, and team management. A live 2.5-hour Zoom session brings everyone together for peer discussion and shared learning. This provides a valuable opportunity to engage, discuss course content and access a range of ideas and approaches to supporting your team.

Learning Objectives include

  • To analyse what support structure is best for your project
  • To design support and supervision content
  • To identify incentives for engagement and retention
  • To evaluate methods of data collection and impact measurement
  • To calculate staff capacity for providing effective and efficient support

Online learning course modules

To make the most of staff capacity and support flexible learning, the course follows a blended learning model. Participants will have access to an online training platform (Reach360 with Articulate), allowing them to complete independent learning at their own pace and convenience. Participants will receive access to the course content upon confirmation of their booking and will have up to two weeks after the live session to complete the learning. Online learning course content includes:

  • What helps people feel supported?
  • Monitoring the impact of roles and supporting retention
  • Incentivising volunteer attendance to support and supervision sessions
  • Protecting and supporting the wellbeing of your team
  • The importance and reasons for support sessions
  • Motivating your team and being supportive during a conflict
  • How to provide inclusive support, without bias or discrimination
  • And more.

Schedule of this training session

This event has two key elements: Independent learning and a Zoom session. Participants will:

  1. Access our training platform and e-learning course on Supporting and Supervising Your Team from Wednesday 24 June.
  2. Attend our Zoom session on Wednesday 8 July, 13:00 – 15:30, for networking, peer learning and comparing practice.

Participants will have a fortnight to complete the independent learning, allowing flexibility. The average completion time for e-learning is 3 hours. Participants are asked to manage their diary accordingly.

Certificate of completion

All participants of a Vital Skills course have the opportunity to earn a certificate of attendance by completing the course content and attending the Zoom session to demonstrate their learning in the course.
