Space @ The Broomhouse Hub reaccredited with Quality in Excellence Award

We are delighted to announce our latest Quality in Excellence Award reaccreditation, Space @ The Broomhouse Hub.

Space is a Scottish Award-nominated charity championing community development and bringing people together. Their Space for Youth Befriending provides children and young people aged 5 – 16 years, living citywide in Edinburgh, with a volunteer befriender once a week for 2 to 3 hours. Their befrienders support and encourage the young people to explore new activities, find new interests and hobbies, with a view to engaging in local youth provision. Since last gaining Excellence for their Quality in Befriending award, they have also been awarded The Kings Award for Voluntary Service in 2024.

Their Quality in Befriending Award assessment showed a well-regarded and supportive service to the young people and volunteers, with policies and procedures that are clear, thorough and very accessible. All in all, Space offers a real feeling of community, both in the physical space and through communication channels in use by the service. The staff team show a lot of passion for the work and seem cohesive and in sync with each other.
